How To Gain True Wisdom

Before I share some beautiful verses from Proverbs (King James Version of the Bible), I'd like to include a definition of fear that many are not aware of. From The Reader's Digest Family Word Finder.....reverence, awe, reverential regard, wonder, esteem, deep respect. Often we have been taught to "fear" the Lord, in the sense of being afraid. My interpretation is more in line with The Digest's definition.

I like Joel Goldsmith's idea that when we pray to the Creator, our main purpose in doing so should be to gain wisdom, understanding and just for the sense of the loving gentle presence of God. When we feel this sense of stillness, assurance and calm, I believe we are then dwelling in the Secret Place of the Most High that is talked about in the 91st Psalm. The Bible says "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and ALL the rest shall be added unto you. In my own life I have found it to be true that when I seek God first....without thought of material gain....things just seem to go more smoothly and unfold before me without struggle. Instead of  worrying about or praying for material comfort or gain...contemplate these precious words from Proverbs.
Chapter 2, verses 1 through 12 and 20 through 22

" My son, if thou wilt recieve my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding (spiritual understanding); If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of judgement, and equity; yea, every good path.

When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee; To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from man that speaketh froward things;  That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous. For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.  But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it."

I would just like to add the emphasis that we must seek wisdom and knowledge and the presence of God...with a pure heart...with the right intentions. It's our sincere seeking that opens the channels of God's truth to flow into our acceptance or conciousness. The truth is always there waiting for us to realize it.
